What's Up Around
September 20, 2009
I am 31" short and 22lbs heavy
I have learned to say the word 'no' and say it to the dogs a lot. Every time Buddy barks I go after him, point my finger and repeat 'no-no-no'. I also learned
face parts, my favorite is to point at Mommy's eyes and nose. Another new word is 'backhoe'. My Papa has lots of big tractors, loaders, backhoes and I really like driving them.
I have also figured out the answer to 'how the cow[horse, lizard, cat, dog, pig] goes?' My favorite is the cow and horse.
I have gotten 4 more teeth in the last month. They again came almost at once! This time it is 3 molars (Mom thinks they might be 2 year molars, somehow
i skipped 1 year molars...)
I am due for another haircut soon, getting a bit sheggy.
Daddy and Mommy have been working hard on
our house.
It is getting close! Mommy has been painting every Saturday and any day off during the week she gets.
Dedushka(GrandPa) Victor has been painting every week-end ever since he got here! Daddy has been doing all types of things to finish up the construction. The other day he wired the house
to turn all the lights on, he did not have any switches in the rooms yet so he wired it to turn on all at once at the control panel and used a flashlight to turn it on and off!
Grandpa Proctor (Papa) has been bringing truck loads of dirt to make sure I have a nice yard to play in. They are hanging doors and making trim the next 2 weeks. There is still a
lot of work to be done. I got to see our new cabinets, they are really nice looking and have a magic thing about them, I tap them and they open up!
July 20, 2009
I am running around now, tumble a lot. I like playing outside the most. I learned that Mommy needs shoes when we go outside, so now I bring her shoes
and I make sure it is a matching pair, have her put them on. She agrees most of the time to go if I went through all the trouble of bringing her the shoes.
I am not talking yet in either of the languages, at least noone can figure my talk out. But I do understand some things that are said. I know very well 'pasci' and
'sosa' (last one is the Russian version). I am familiar with several Russian words now, thanks to Babushka Olga.
Babushka and I spend a lot of time together: we go to the park every morning and eat breakfast, then come home and play in the yard. She taught me
dancing, so I hop and stump to the music. Summer has been very nice, not too hot so I spent most of my days outside playing. We went to the lake for Kian's Birthday
Party and I got to ride on Papa's (grandpa Proctor) boat for the first time!
Daddy has been working hard on
our house.
It is getting closer! Mommy has been painting the house every Saturday, so I don't get to see her much lately.
June 20, 2009
I am walking! I made my first steps across the living room on the day I turned 14 months. I have been perfecting it ever since.
I like holding my Mommy's hand, run in circles and make Mommy dizzy. I am also really good about getting myself up and crashing.
I can climb up on the dining chairs, so I keep everyone on their toes.
My new word is 'dog', I come up to the doors in the kitchen and knock on the windows to call the dogs up.
I learned it from my Mommy, she would always call up the dogs by knocking on the window. I like my Buddy dog, he lets me ride on him.
The other day he was chilling on the lawn in the front yard while Daddy was mowing so I decided it was a perfect opportunity to sit on him:
he let me, for several minutes!
Mommy took me to the brand new Willard Swimming pool. The pool is so great: it has fountains, slides, lots of kids and plenty of opportunity to get wet.
I really liked it there, spend most of the time walking in the water while holding on to Mommy.
I had my first haircut on the 9th of June. Mommy was very happy with me as I was very well behaived while sitting on her lap. Everyone said I looked really handsome
once it was done - I was very proud of myself and smiled really big for Daddy's camera.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house.
It is getting closer! They have completed hanging dry wall and will start on texture. Now it is Mommy's turn to pick colors, cabinets, etc. She has also been helping
my Dedushka(GrandPa) Victor paint. He has been painting every week-end ever since he got here!
April 20, 2009
I still enjoy playing in the park and keep up with big kids. I am not walking yet, but can stand on my own and hold a toy for a while without crashing.
I got two more top teeth, so I am up to 6 now! They help me bit on things so now I only like eating things i can bite on, non of that spoon business, please! It
makes it harder for Mommy to find things for me to eat because I like to bite but not chew, so anything that melts in the mouth works; she is having really hard time
finding such foods.
I learned the new word and now like using it all the time. It is 'UP'. I like to go UP in the air and play with the rice paper lanterns that are above my crib and
love touching the light fixtures. Another new word is 'Apph' which means 'apple'. This one is hard, so I shortened it. I point to the bowl of apples long enough
and mom finally figured it out, so now she peels the entire apple for me and lets me bite on it, when I get tired of it, I feed my mommy the rest - that's a fun game
we play: I feed her!
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. We had our second rough in inspection and passed! Big windows are installed and look really crazy cool.
If you know my dad, you know what I mean when I say he has definitely outdone himself with this house;
it will be hard to top! I took a personal tour of it on my knees the other day, that was fun and filthy *grin* - I like getting dirty.
My Russian grandparents on May 2nd (but I will get to meet them on the 3rd since I will be already in bed when they come)! Mommy shows me their photo, but I like looking on the back of
it to see if they are on the back as well.
March 20, 2009
I am 1!
It is finally warm out. It has been a lot of fun to play outside. I like climbing everything in sight, pick up rocks and play in dirt. Mommy
takes me to the park: there is a playground and it is always full of bigger kids, so I try to keep up with them.
Also there is this huge slide in the park; I climb several steps to get to it and then Mommy picks me up to walk through the big fish part to get to the slide and
we slide down together, it is so much fun! I know my way around the playground really well and find the way to the slide even
if Mommy takes me away to play in the grass.
I have started reading books, but they are kind of boring so I just look at the pictures, turn some pages around and then go on to some more fun things to do.
I got a great truck from Grandma and Grandpa for my b-day, it is so much fun: I drive it all the time. It has a garage for race cars and lots of buttons; one of the
buttons plays music and I dance to it with Mom and Dad.
I really like playing with doggies. They are my favorite, there is just so many things you can do with them and they come in so many different types. I watch
my Maggie Dog and Buddy Dog at home through the window and Daddy has been taking me to pet them. They are really big dogs, I can ride on them. Then there is a really
fun dog at Ruth Ann's (Audrey's grandma). His name is Pepe, he is a little dog so I get to crawl and jump around him and pet him whenever I want, he likes to tickle me
with his tongue. And of course there are all kinds of dogs at the Grandma's farm, big and small, I ride on Daisy and pet Nina a lot; sometimes
I go after cats as well, they are fun to pet and feel the soft fur. Once I start walking it will be a little easier to chase after them.
I said 'daddy' a couple of times the other day when Daddy was watching me, he was really excited. Daddy and I have our own Boys Club. I giggle every time
daddy says 'Boys Club'. I have not started to walk yet, but have stood without support couple of times when I did not realize I was doing it. I can climb on and off
the couch, at times I try to jump off, but get caught by my parents. I like taking legos off the Lego table while Mom and Dad stack them on: it is a little game we play.
I have also learned to walk with the push along toy. It took me two more weeks after my 1 year b-day, but now I don't even like my parents helping me.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. We just had a rough in inspection, but there is still a lot to be done. We did not pass the inspection
because the big windows are missing still. The windows will be installed in just a few days! Once the windows are done,
it shouldn't be much longer. Maybe Mommy can have her birthday party at the new house!
Days are getting warmer and longer so Mommy takes me on more walks.
My Russian grandparents should be here really soon, by the end of April! Mommy shows me their photo, but I like looking on the back of
it to see if they are on the back as well.
February 20, 2009
I am 11 months old!
I have become a super cruiser. I climb all over the place and especially like to get inside boxes. I also really like to climb
onto the couch and then slide off it, but I do tumble down occassionally (make my Mommy worry!).
I have learned to place things in containers and now make sure to help my parents clean up the house by placing all the
things they leave within my reach into the waste busket, *he he he*, it took them a while to figure out why the soda cans went into the trash instead
of recycle: Mom thought Dad did it and Dad thought Mom did it.
I finally got a tooth at about 10.5 months! And then I got some more teeth, and more teeth...so I ended up with 4!
The doctor was saying that my top ones will be here first because the gums were very swallen, but they were so slooooow,
that my lower ones made it in first without much of a notice.
Mommy has been teaching me some Russian language, although I don't really know the difference yet. I think I understand 2 words now that she taught me:
'here you go' and 'give it to me' (but in Russian they are single words instead of phrases, so makes it a lot easier to learn). I think she is hoping
that I will learn to share my toys better with my cousin if I learn these words, hmmm will see if her plan works.
I have also learned to wave bye-bye here recently. I only do it once in a while, if I am in the mood.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are getting ready for the rough in inspection, but there is still a lot to be done.
We are no longer hoping to move by early Spring, ugh. Daddy said the windows will be installed around my birthday though. So hopefully not too much
longer from there. Maybe Mommy can have her birthday party at the new house!
Days are getting warmer and longer so Mommy takes me on more walks. All three of us also
went to the Chili cook off in Springfield last week-end, boy, it was noisy in there and lots of people. I got to roll around in the stroller and eat
cracker while Mom and Dad ate chili.
My Russian grandparents should be here really soon, maybe by mid to end of April! They have not met me yet, Mommy says they are really excited to meet me.
January 20, 2009
I am 10 months old!
I have become a super crawler. I can run through the hallway on all four in no time. My favorite places to go are my parents' bathroom - it has this shower curtain
that is so much fun to play with; I also love it when the fridge door opens, I make sure I am right there every time to check it out - there is just so much interesting
stuff in there and I absolutely love the feel of cold on my fingers when I pull up and hold on to the shelves.
I am starting to cruise around: the best place is the couch, plus it has all the entertainment I need: my parents laptops. I have mastered typing on the laptop, my
favorite applications to pull up are notepad and help files of anything that is open (F1 key, I know). I have sent a sound file to one of my Daddy's friends via Instant
Messanger, *he he he*, they still cannot figure out how I did it - just wait till I get a little more control over the keyboard!
The dr. said I need to start using a toothbrush even though I still don't have any teeth yet. She said there should be top ones coming in (I am different from all the other
babies, I start with the top teeth). I do like my finger foods, especially bread, cheerios, creakers. I do eat all the mushy stuff too, that way mommy is happy;
she keeps saying that it has all the nutrients I need.
I make sure Mommy has a lot of fun when changing my diaper: I try to crawl away every opportunity I get. Sometimes she just lets me run naked until she can catch me.
Bath time is another fun one: it is so boring to sit in one place and let someone else pour water on you, so I try to escape every time, but I have not been successful yet.
I make sure to keep Mommy on her toes though - that is so much fun!
I have also mastered Patty Cake - Daddy and I learned it while Mommy was at work! I get daily lessons on the guitar from Daddy as well, I love to listen to the music and
that is the only time I can sit still. Sometimes I play on the guitar myself, it is a lot of fun and it makes very nice tones; it is also good to use as a drum.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are getting ready for the rough in inspection, but there is still a lot to be done.
We are still hoping to move by early Spring. I really would like to have my big 1 year Birthday Party at my new house!
Daddy and I got Mommy a trip to Las Vegas for Christmas. She went with aunt Vika last week. They had a lot of fun
: flew on a helicopter to the Grand Canyon and raced in a car on Las Vegas Speedway at 160 ml/hour (someone else was driving them though). While Mommy was out I
spent the week with Daddy and aunt Dawn. We had lots of fun together: Daddy gave me lots of music lessons and taught me to dance to the music.
December 20, 2008
I am 9 months old!
I am really close to be 100% mobile. I can crawl backwards and working on the forward crawling. Mom and Dad really need to make sure they childproof the
house as it takes me seconds to move from one side of the room to another.
I really like reading magazines and play with bubble wrap, they make all kinds
of fun noises.
I don't have any teeth yet, but that's ok I managed without them thus far and nibble on things just fine! I decided I am too big for spoon feeding, so now I only like
to eat pieces of food that Mommy and Daddy eat. That sure makes my Mommy's job a lot harder to feed me since I am still working on learning how to chew and swallow, somehow
I keep getting full mouth and cannot figure out what to do next.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working on the rails for the stairs and deck.
We now have windows in the dinning room and upstairs, but still waiting on the great big ones for the family room.
We are still hoping to move by early Spring. I really would like to have my big 1 year Birthday Party at my new house!
I am really excited to tell you that my grandparents will be here
very soon. Mommy thinks maybe by my 1st Birthday! I have not met them yet, but I do talk to them on the phone a lot, well I mostly listen Mommy talk and I help out.
November 20, 2008
I am 8 months old!
I have perfected my sitting and now don't fall over as easy. I have been trying to sit up and sometimes I manage to, but it is still hard if I
have to do it from laying on my back. I am not crawling yet, but I sure make attempts to by moving around in circles on my belly and scooting on my bottom across the floor.
I have been enjoying my toy aquarium and learned to take things out of it, still need to figure out how to put things back in.
I am also learning to drink out of a sippy cup. It is a hard task, so far most of water ends up on me. I tried regular cup as well, but that is even harder.
I have mastered a skill of drenching my Mommy when she gives me a bath. It is so much fun, I wiggle my entire body as fast as I can so that the water starts make foam and all Mommy can do is look for cover!
I had my first flu shot this month and I took it like a man! When it was all over and Mommy picked me up, I smiled really big at her and the nurse. The flu shot
did not keep me from catching a cold and getting an ear infection from it. So I have to be in antibiotics for 10 days. That really took my appetite away and hirt so
bad I would not drink anything. Hopefully I can stay away from colds so I don't have to be on antibiotics again since it really messes up my not so strong yet immune system
I don't have any teeth yet, but that's ok I managed without them thus far and nibble on things just fine!
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working on plumbing now and Daddy is doing some super complex wiring configuration so our house is
very efficient. We are still hoping to move by early Spring. I really would like to have my big 1 year Birthday Party at my new house!
Mommy has been trying to get me well again. It is just as hard on her
since I don't sleep or eat well when I don't feel well.
October 20, 2008
I am 7 months old!
The world is getting more interesting for me.
I can sit all by myself and play with all my toys that way - it is a lot more fun
than being stuck on my back or tummy. Sometimes I reach too far and fall over, then Mommy still has to help me up as I have not learned to get to sitting
all on my own yet.
I have discovered the greatness of the toys with batteries - now you cannot give me just some old rattle, the noisier the better and I make sure to
keep it going.
I am also learning to drink out of a sippy cup. It is a hard task, so far most of water ends up on me. I tried regular cup as well, but that is even harder.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working inside now, so the cold does not stop the construction! I was hoping I can have my
big room by the end of the year, but some of the windows are backordered till January, so I guess we have to wait now. But they are moving along and have electrical
done and plumbing in progress. Our goal is to move in by March 1st, I am crossing my fingers (and so is Mommy).
Mommy started back to work. She is now working at the
office at least 3 days a week. She leaves me with grandma at the farm. My cousin Kien and I have a good time together.
September 20, 2008
I am 6 months old!
The world is getting more interesting for me.
I can sit if Mommy holds my back so I don't tupple over on the side and I can play with toys that way - it is a lot more fun
than being stuck on my back or tummy. I learned to roll over in both directions, Mommy calls me a 'roll-over fool'. When I get mad at my
toys I push really hard with my feet and wow I somehow end up on my tummy!
I am learning to eat solids, although I am not fond of cereal. So far I had a taste of sweet potato, squash, and carrots. I like all of those, but
really did not care for green beans. For breakfast I really like fruit: apples and pear; peaches and prunes are not in my likes though.
I trick my Mommy at times so she does not think she can just feed me the same stuff, so I refuse the baby food from time to time.
I am also learning to drink out of a sippy cup. It is a hard task, so far most of water ends up on me.
I have finally established a sleeping schedule and I like it a lot. Mommy loves it too as she can predict better
when I am going to bed and when I am getting up.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working on the roof now, that's a really big job!
Mommy started back to work. She is now working at the
office at least 3 days a week. She leaves me with grandma at the farm. Grandpa took me on my first tractor ride the other day - that was a lot
of fun, although I did not care much for the bumpy part.
August 20, 2008
Can you believe it, I am already 5 months old!
The world is starting to get really interesting for me now.
I no longer have to look at everything laying down: Mommy holds me sitting and I can play with toys that way - it is a lot more fun
than being stuck on my back or tummy.
My biggest news this month is our doctor's go ahead to start on solids: Mommy and Daddy have been treating me with a few licks of sweets
and yogurts - I would watch them eat and kept thinking 'hey guys what about me', I think they finally figured out I wanted a bite too.
Mommy gave me some cereal and apples; I tell you, this stuff is pretty good, better than all the same milk diet.
I have discovered my feet last week - it has been fun to play that way, I can roll around like a roly-poly! It also made bath time a blast,
I can kick my legs and feet so hard now that I get splashed all over! I am working on the part to get Mommy soaked.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working on the roof now, that's a really big job!
July 20, 2008
My Weight: 12lbs
My Height: 23"
A lot of things happened this past month. My last big accomplishment is turning over from tummy to my back. I only did it a couple of times so far though.
I will have to practice more to do it consistently.
I wasn't feeling well at the end of June and stopped eating, so Mommy and I stayed at the hospital for
almost a week. I met a lot of really nice nurses as they took care of me. We even got to watch my first fireworks on the 4th of July from the hospital window: from 7th floor you
can sure see the entire Springfield skyline and boy were there a lot of fireworks everywhere!
I did start to eat better once the dr. put me on a different medicine, but I still do have my ups and downs on eating.
I started sleeping on my tummy during the day
and I take much better naps that way while Mommy is working.
I have been going on walks with Mommy in a Jeep carrier. It is a lot of fun to look around and I enjoy it a lot more than a stroller. Sometimes
I fall asleep on walks when I get really comfortable.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are working on the roof now, that's a really big job!
My Mommy working hard to take care of me. Since I have been diagnosed with acid reflux, it is a job to feed me because I don't eat very much at a time.
She has to hold me upright for 30 min every time I eat so my tummy does not bug me. She has also been waking me up at night to eat so that I eat enough to grow.
She is really hoping that I will soon outgrow this and start liking to eat.
June 20, 2008
My Weight: 10 lbs 10oz
My Height: 22"
I love taking baths, the best part is when Mommy and Daddy splash me with water. I am not quite big enough yet to get my own splashing power going, but I am trying.
It is getting really hot lately, so we don't take as many walks, plus all this rain really makes it had to get an evening without a storm.
I am really enjoying my play gym, it is so much fun to bat at the rattle and giraffe, I am even doing double hits and go as fast as I can so they don't get a chance to slow down.
Tummy time is getting to be a lot more fun, I used to not like it at all, but now that I can hold my head much better and sometimes pull myself up with my hands, I figured out
how to lay on my tummy and still watch the big screen.
I have been spending time at the farm with GrandMa, it is a lot of fun: I get to see my cousin Kian who is almost 1 year old. He has been telling me to
hurry and grow up and start crawling so we can play together.
I also have a new cousin now, Audrey. She was born June 4th.
For Mommy's Birthday today Daddy got her two bottles of wine, she has really been looking forward to having some wine!
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are finishing up framing now and starting on the roof! It looks really cool and the view
from my bedroom is beautiful.
May 20, 2008
My Weight: 9 lbs 5oz
My Height: 21"
I love taking baths, of course not the soapy part, more for the splashing fun. Daddy prepares the bath for me,
but is scared to give me one so Mommy has the fun of splashing me with water. I made some progress on my walks since last month: I stay awake for at least half of it and
get to listen to the birds and look at all the pretty trees around. Tummy time is getting to be a lot more fun now: I don't nose dive anymore into the floor, but
can keep myself looking around for a little bit; sometimes I even twist around, but ways away from turning over yet.
My Daddy got Mommy a solar oven, but I think he has used it more often so far, he really likes to cook things up in it. So far he surprised us with cornbread, beans, and noodles.
Daddy has been working hard on
our house. They are finishing up concrete floors on the 2 level and he says it should go pretty fast then.
My Mommy doing well and takes good care of me. She has pretty well figured out my signs for different moods and I am very close to having a routine.
But for now I still get to surprise her! She did something really fun the other day: she went up several hundred feet in the air on a construction lift and looked
all around the Ozarks - she could even see the downtown Springfield from our house!
April 20, 2008
My Weight: 7lbs 5oz
My Height: 19"
I have been taking Mommy on walks now that it is warm and sunny out. While one might argue that Mommy is actually taking me,
since I am leading in my stroller, it is up for debate. I enjoy our walks and pretty well stay asleep: those birds and the sound of wind
tricks me every time no matter how hard I try to stay awake. One of these days I know I will win!
My Daddy is currently working on another solar project: solar oven. I hear he is making it so I can operate it as soon as I
can walk - hmmm - does that mean I will also need to know how to cook? I have a better idea, before I learn cooking,
I bet I can cook up something else in that oven - hope my parents don't mind strange smells or random explosions around the house.
My Mommy doing well and takes good care of me (sometimes she worries too much - but that is just every mom's job I hear). She is starting to figure out all my
tricks - it won't be too long before I will have to give into a routine. But for now I still get to surprise her!
March 20, 2008
Mommy and I are doing well and getting some rest.
My Birth Date & Time: 8:26 PM, March 20th, 2008
My Weight: 5 pounds 3 ounces
My Height: 18 inches
Dad did a great job helping Mom, he even help me come out and cut the cord.
Mommy is doing great but is a bit tired, she had me the old fashion way.
